“I grew up surrounded by pop culture on a steady diet of pop music, classic rock, top 40 and classical,” says songwriter/producer Jacques Brautbar.  When asked about his music influences, he sights his older sisters as guiding his education.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Jacques Brautbar has lived anything but an ordinary life. He began his professional music career at the age of 15 as a founding member of the Los Angeles sensation, Phantom Planet. As a guitar player, an arranger and a songwriter for the Sony Recording group, Jacques collaborated on the band’s three singles, “California” (theme song to the hit show The O.C.), “Lonely Day” and “Big Brat”. These songs soon found an audience on MTV, international radio, Film and TV. Throughout his tenure with the band, Jacques had the opportunity to work closely with songwriters like Jimmy Harry, Adam Schlesinger, and John Farrar along with producers like Mitchell Froom, David Fridmann, and Peter Asher.

Recently, Jacques has co-written a record with Portland’s rising star Jasmine Ash. Co-produced with long time collaborator Sam Farrar (Maroon 5, Sarah Bareilles), the project has already found syncs for national ad campaigns and prime time television shows.

His unique approach to production, combined with an ability to play almost every instrument and create in multiple genres, places Jacques among a handful of producer/writers to watch.
